Kuching- Handball is one of the new event which will be held at the 19th Malaysia Games (Sukma XIX) in Perak and Sarawak is sending both its men and women team in the competition.
The official venue for the handball competition is at Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim and the matches are to be held from 15 to 20 September.
Even though handball is offering only 2 gold medals in Sukma XIX Perak, the competition is expected to be stiff among the 12 state contingents which will be playing in the group league matched before the top two from each groups are entering for the next knock-out stages.
Sarawak men's squad will be represented by Alan Lai Ming Joo, Engan Sing Pivot, Lucy, Larry Agan Runguh Pivot, Meliw Anak Puchau, Syahmi Bin Mohd Saiful Iskandar, Fathurrahman Bin Hasfa, Barau Anak Mikal, Platner Usak Liban, Reinhold Rabang Lagang, Reuben Joseph, Rick Lihan Raymong, Sylvester Saw Ronnie and Nguong Jin.
The Women's squad will be represented by Agnes Uyang Tie Xiang Ying, Bibiana Lulo Dustan, Cynthia Angkui, Dayang Fitri Izzati Binti Abdul Aziz, Jenny Meni Hawing, Jessi Sudin Ningkan, Margaret Luhong Ding, Michella Paren, Nurasfarina Binti Ibrahim, Paula Gawang, Sonia Lawrence , Sophia Child Neighbor, Suriana Binti Yamlimut and Syrranatasa Lufi Morin.
The Assistant Chef-de-Mission (ACDM) for handball is Yb Dr Abdul Rahman Haji Junaidi who is also state assemblyman for Pantai Damai while men's squad manager is Spencer Juvenile Ak Aton and the women's squad manager is Noor Maisarah Bt Mamat. The men's squad coach is Jee Khing Chung and coach of the women's squad is Hoo Boon Teck.
