KUCHING: Every Sports Development Officer (PPS) of the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) involved in Sarawak's preparation for the 19th Malaysia Games (SUKMA XIX) in Perak is expected to work hard to guarantee the welfare and comfort of the athletes who will compete.
This was confirmed by Sarawak Sports Corporation (PSS) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee at the last coordination meeting held at State Stadium, Petra Jaya yesterday and attended by all PSS members as well as state contingent staff secretaries. According to Ong, as the Sarawak contingent is one of the largest in Perak SUKMA, there are many challenges that will be faced in the management and administration of more than 700 athletes and officials involved.
"Every PPS should always be aware of what happens to athletes who will face the current challenges in Perak especially in terms of health, accommodation, nutrition and transportation. "This is because the SUKMA Perak venue is located in 13 different locations and it requires good management and coordination so that every one planned will go smoothly," he said.
During the recent Ong visit to Ipoh, the Perak SUKMA Secretariat assured that all the preparations to welcome athletes from the 14 states competing were ready. Although staying 13 days before SUKMA begins, the first batch of PPS members and MSNS staff will depart to Ipoh, Perak as early as 4 September to start the secretariat operation center there.
The Sarawak football team will be the first batch to travel to Perak to start a football event scheduled to open the curtain on September 8. Meanwhile, the Sarawak contingent camp will be held from September 7 to 9 at the Century Hotel where the state flag ceremony will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

This was made by Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Dr Ong Kong Swee during their last coordination meeting held at State Stadium, Petra Jaya recently.

According to Dr Ong, Sarawak contingent is one of the largest in coming Perak SUKMA and there are many challenges expected especially in the management and administration of the more than 700 athletes and officials involved.

"Every SDO should be aware of the needs of our athletes who will be facing various challenges in Perak especially in terms of health, accommodation, nutrition and transportation." he said. 

"This is because the venues for the various sporting venues are located in 13 different locations and we must have good management and coordination so that every thing that had been planned will go on smoothly," he added.
