KUCHING - The Northern Zone contingent had continued to lead the overall medal tally on the third day of the ongoing Sukan Sarawak (SukSar) 2017 after its athletes had bagged a total of 70 gold, 55 silver and 33 bronze medals.

The convincing gold medal tally had boost Northern Zone contention to win the overall title of SukSar 2017 after its closest competitor, the Southern Zone is trailing in second place with 62 gold, 48 ​​silver and 46 bronze medals while the Central Zone is in third with 20 gold, 42 silver and 43 bronze medals.

On the third day of SukSar 2017, the Northern Zone had won a total od 41 gold, 32 silver and 18 bronze medals in which the weightlifting event had contributed the most gold medals with 24 while karate, sports and Muay events had contributed 6 gold each.

The competition between the top two contingents are very stiff due to the rush for the remaining gold medals up for grab in the fourth and final day of SukSar 2017.
